"REACH for the stars and beyond. Together, with God's love, we can dream, believe and achieve"

Welcome to our school's website

“Pupils thrive at Battyeford Primary School. They are happy and safe. There is a strong sense of community. Staff have high expectations of pupils’ attitudes and behaviour”.  These are the words taken from our most recent Ofsted inspection, and they perfectly encapsulate the ethos and values we promote here in school.  At Battyeford, we understand that education is a journey, not a destination, and our focus is on providing a learning environment which supports our children through every stage of their personal journeys.  We understand that every child is different, has different needs and aspirations, and our child-centric approach ensures that children achieve and become the very best versions of themselves.

Our philosophy is underpinned by our school REACH vision.  This vision defines the gifts we seek to enrich our children with every day:

  • Responsible
  • Empathetic
  • Aspirational
  • Confident
  • Happy

And our vision statement “Reach for the stars and beyond.  Together with God’s love, we can dream, believe and achieve” seeks to re-enforce these values and our strong links to the Church.   Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do, providing opportunities for all children to access learning and develop academically, socially and emotionally.  We are proud of all our children, and of the reputation we have as a wonderful learning environment within our community.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit our website, and I encourage everyone to explore the site to gain valuable insight into our world and see the rich tapestry of activities and experiences that make up Battyeford Primary School.

Rachel Batty, Headteacher

    Parents’ fundraising meeting this Thursday!
Do you want to get involved in helping to raise funds for school? We’re holding a meeting Thursday 29th February, 5-6pm, in the school staff room. This is to get the new parents, teachers, and friends association (PTFA) up and running. It’s the AGM and we’re aiming to get some key roles filled before we start to plan events and fundraising activities. Any parents and carers are very welcome, however you feel you can contribute. Helen and Vicky, parent governors

World Thinking Day tomorrow (22nd February 2024)
Dear parent/carer Just a reminder about World Thinking Day tomorrow. The school have welcomed the opportunity to support Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts coming into school on World Thinking Day, tomorrow, wearing their uniforms instead of school uniform, if they wish to do so. For the Girlguiding community, and more specifically WAGGS (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts) World Thinking Day is a day of reflection, globally coming together for a common cause. This year’s theme is Our World, Our Future, and the common theme of the environment . That connection with our surroundings, family, friends and community is important and within Girlguiding, as Leaders, they're all about enabling opportunities for our girls to belong and fit into a community. It would be great to see just how many of our children are involved with Girlguiding and Scouting, as we know there are a number of units in Mirfield and the surrounding area, appreciating that sense of community inside and out of our school. We would love to see lots of our children take the opportunity to wear their uniforms and celebrate World Thinking Day, and if they let their Leader know what is happening, they may well even earn themselves a badge. On a more general note, Girlguiding and Scout Association are always looking for more adult volunteers to help run units and if you have a child interested in joining any of the sections then please register your child via the website: https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-for-parents/register-your-daughter/ https://www.scouts.org.uk/groups/ Thank you and we look forward to seeing you in uniform tomorrow.
