"REACH for the stars and beyond. Together, with God's love, we can dream, believe and achieve."

Welcome to our school's website

“Pupils thrive at Battyeford Primary School. They are happy and safe. There is a strong sense of community. Staff have high expectations of pupils’ attitudes and behaviour”.  These are the words taken from our most recent Ofsted inspection, and they perfectly encapsulate the ethos and values we promote here in school.  At Battyeford, we understand that education is a journey, not a destination, and our focus is on providing a learning environment which supports our children through every stage of their personal journeys.  We understand that every child is different, has different needs and aspirations, and our child-centric approach ensures that children achieve and become the very best versions of themselves.

Our philosophy is underpinned by our school REACH vision.  This vision defines the gifts we seek to enrich our children with every day:

  • Responsible
  • Empathetic
  • Aspirational
  • Confident
  • Happy

And our vision statement “Reach for the stars and beyond.  Together with God’s love, we can dream, believe and achieve” seeks to re-enforce these values and our strong links to the Church.   Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do, providing opportunities for all children to access learning and develop academically, socially and emotionally.  We are proud of all our children, and of the reputation we have as a wonderful learning environment within our community.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit our website, and I encourage everyone to explore the site to gain valuable insight into our world and see the rich tapestry of activities and experiences that make up Battyeford Primary School.

    Message from our Governing Body
Dear Parents and Carers, A message from our Governing Body…. Please see the link below to our Meet the Governors document on the website which explains a little bit about what we are trying to achieve in continually supporting and challenging improvements across the school and the local community. https://www.battyefordprimary.com/kirklees/primary/battyeford/site/pages/aboutus/meetthegovernors We thought it might be useful to summarise below, some of things we have been working on behind the scenes, the things that are outside of the usual cycle of governor meetings. PTFA Our Parents, Teachers, and Friends Association (PTFA) is fully set up again now with various roles assigned that will start to focus on several diarised events to bring the community together and to raise vital funds for tangible benefits to the school, funded direct from these events. The next meeting is on the 6th of June at 5pm in the Bungalow if you are interested in the work they are doing, the first big event will be the summer fair on the 13th July 11am until 3pm which promises to be a fun filled day of stalls, food, refreshments, face painting and so much more. Governors will be at the event if you want to pop up to them and say hello! The email address is battyefordpta@gmail.com if you want to know anything more about the PTFA direct. Visibility As Governors, we have tried to increase our visibility in school, for parents and carers at parents’ evenings in the main reception, although standing next to the food probably wasn’t the greatest idea as people were distracted by the lovely food samples on offer. This will continue at various future events, and we continually visit school to see how our key focus areas are developing following the information we receive at the Governors meetings. SATS Finally, it is that time of year when our year 6 pupils undertake their SATS. We are thankful to all the staff in school who have been doing everything they can to ensure the children are best placed to go into the test and our Governors have been in school providing invigilation through SATS week. The week went very well, and the local authority moderation has given some very positive feedback. We hope you have a lovely spring term break, and you get time to spend some relaxation time with family and loved ones. Kind regards The Governing Body
